Auguste Comte

The term “social physics” was originally coined in the early 1800s by the philosopher Auguste Comte, who hoped that a mechanistic science could help to unravel society’s complexities. In 1823 to 1825, the two, Comte and Saint-Simon, had a falling out. English sociologist Alan Swingewood claims that during this period (1803-1825), Saint-Simon coined the term “social physics”.
