World Tuberculosis Day, observed on 24 March each year, is planned to build public awareness about the international epidemic of tuberculosis and actions to eliminate the disease.

According to Wikipedia, In 2018, 10 million people fell ill with TB, and 1.5 million died from the disease, mostly in low and middle-income countries.

According to Dawn News, Tuberculosis (TB) is now considered the second most lethal infectious disease in the world after Covid-19. However, TB is both preventable and treatable. In 2020, some 1.5m people died of this disease globally. Two-thirds of these deaths were reported from eight countries — most of them in India, followed by China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and South Africa.
