Warren Hastings

Warren Hastings is the first British Governor-General of Bengal. He took the charge as a Governor-General on 20th October 1773.

He was a British colonial administrator, who served as the first Governor of the Presidency of Fort William, the head of the Supreme Council of Bengal, and so the first de facto Governor-General of Bengal in 1772–1785. – Wikipedia
